Julio J Faria BSc. (Hons), CEng, MiChemE.
After a career at Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) in Canada and England, Mr Faria co-founded and then managed Surface Transforms Plc from 1992 to 2008. He built up that company from its carbon composites research roots and took it public in 2002. In 2008 he left and formed Carbon Ceramics Ltd in 2009, to pursue his unfinished work on the development of cost effective high performance carbon ceramic materials produced by efficient, low energy, manufacturing technology. He is widely recognised as a prime mover in this field.
Jim Hatfield MA(Cantab), MIChemE.
Following on a sucessful career in ICI, Jim became then a consultant to ICI and developed significant, patented new technology in the plastics industry. A gifted polymath, Jim has worked in the area of carbon composites for over 15 years and has several patents for new processing technology. He continues to push out the boundaries of the science and engineering, as a consultant to the company.
Kate Hickman BSc.(Hons), MPhil.
Kate has worked for IBM, Mars(UK), Oxford Materials and Surface Transforms Plc. She was instrumental in developing carbon ceramic materials for aircraft, rocket and automotive applications and was heavily involved in the Formula 1 project. Kate brings a wealth of materials knowledge and applications experience to the company.
